In the past, round, Infrared windows were typically no larger than 4 inches due to the inherent limitations of crystal materials used in the manufacturing of windows,,,i.e., the larger the crystal, the more fragile it becomes.

IRISS's innovations in the materials used in the VPFR series combined with the inherent durability and transmission stability are the cornerstone of the IRISS CAP Range of products. Today, because of the stability of design and transmission, IRISS is producing an engineering IR windows that are customized to the application - rather than trying to manage the application to the limitations of the size or shape of the IR windows readily available for use.

The IRISS CAP series of Infrared windows now come in standard sizes of 6, 12 and 24 inches and allows for more freedom to inspect multiple components through one Infrared window, thus reducing the number of IR windows required and the installation time and costs associated with them. 

Removing the covers from electrical panels or even mechanical gaurds from rotating equipment is a risky business. The IRISS CAP solutions allow thermographers to electrical connections, rotating joints or bearing caps while leaving the main covers in place. The result is a safer, faster and virtually risk-free inspection that can enable thermographers to catch otherwise hidden faults before they result in costly downtime.
